Sometimes we think food is a problem. A weakness. If we could just find the right diet, the right regimen, the right food, everything else would fall into place.

But it doesn’t. I know you’ve struggled with food, and I know those struggles spill over into body image, self-worth, and self-esteem.

Do I eat this or avoid it? Do I share this with others or keep the plan to myself?

The truth is, turning to food when you’re anxious, overwhelmed, unhappy, or emotional, is an excellent coping strategy. It goes back to our earliest memories as babies: we’re upset, and our loving parent sweeps us up and nourishes us.

Nourishment. Intimacy. Safety. Love.

That’s what we’re truly craving.

FOOD IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM; IT’S A SUBSTITUTE.

So what can you do about it now?

When we address the needs underneath food cravings – the body image struggles, tension with your family, job stress, desperation about weightloss, anxiety about the future – it becomes much easier to step out of the emotional eating spiral.

In this 8-week course, we will begin by:

  • Exploring stress and its impact on digestion, nutrient assimilation, and calorie-burning potential (or, why you can eat perfectly and exercise daily and still not look the way you expect).
  • Delving into dieting myths and Toxic Nutritional Beliefs.
  • Harnessing the power of relaxation, pleasure, and rhythm to come back to a relationship with our bodies that is truly nourishing.

Then, we’ll move beyond literal food and nutrition and into soul food and nourishment. We will:

  • Work with the Shadow, the dark, “negative” traits and qualities that are keep us in the spiral of control, rules, self-hate, and “screw it!” followed by shame and guilt.
  • Explore the hopes and dreams lying underneath the weight or size focus you have for yourself
  • Use pleasure to tap into metabolic power
  • Make plans for where you’ll direct your excess energy once it’s no longer obsessed with food. Your Soul, your true self, has bigger goals than the number on a scale. What are they?
