I know the Nobel Prizes are being awarded around this time, but did you know that there are also the Ig Nobel Prizes? They were awarded back in September for this year. My favorite: The Psychology Prize: Laurent Bègue, Brad Bushman, Oulmann Zerhouni, Baptiste Subra, and Medhi Ourabah, for confirming, by experiment, that people who think they are drunk also think they are attractive. For a list of all the winners ever, check out this Wikipedia article.

Loved this list of Halloween Costume Ideas from Sarah. I have also gone as a crayon, a bottle of ketchup, and a garden gnome. But my current favorite costume is the Dalai Parton. Turns out it’s a hilarious twitter handle too.

Beautiful post from Susannah about herself at 40 years old.

Interesting thoughts from Penelope: the pursuit of happiness makes life shallow. “Each of us has a different capacity to give to others without losing ourselves. Some of us can give only a bit, some of us give so much there is nothing of us left. Your real job, not necessarily the one you get paid for, is to find the opportunity to infuse meaning into your life by challenging yourself to give in a way that jeopardizes your happiness.”

A few months ago I was doing some exploration around spirit totems and animals, and I kept having dreams about vultures and condors. This week I’ve actually been SEEING condors for the first time in my entire life, and I loved rereading this Prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor.

If you don’t already, you should probably start following Retta on Twitter. She live-tweets a lot, and recently she started watching Sherlock. It is HILARIOUS to watch her see things for the first time.
